What Makes a Turn Epic? (Neo, Before & After the Turn)
Once Upon a Time
Imagine a world where Mr. Anderson, an ordinary man, discovers that his reality is not what it seems. This is where our story begins with "Once Upon a Time." In this first part of the narrative structure, we introduce the protagonist and set the stage for the journey ahead. Mr. Anderson is living a mundane life, unaware of his true potential. He is just a cog in the machine, going through the motions of his daily routine. However, a mysterious message disrupts his reality, planting a seed of doubt and curiosity in his mind.
But Then...
As Mr. Anderson delves deeper into the unknown, he encounters challenges and revelations that shape his transformation into Neo, The One. This is where the "But Then" moment occurs. Neo is faced with a choice - to continue living a life of ignorance and conformity or to embrace his newfound truth and embark on a path of self-discovery. Despite the risks and uncertainties, Neo decides to confront his fears and step into his role as the chosen one. This pivotal moment propels the story forward and marks a significant turning point in Neo's journey.
Just When All Seemed Lost
Just when all seems lost, Neo faces his greatest adversity. The forces of the old world are determined to crush his rebellion and maintain control over him. This is the "Just When All Was Lost" phase of the story, where Neo must dig deep within himself to find the strength and courage -- belief? -- to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds. Through perseverance, self-belief, and the help of allies, Neo rises from the ashes and fulfills his destiny as the savior of humanity.
And They All Lived Happily Ever After
And so, the stage is set for the final part of our story - "They Lived Happily Ever After," where Neo's triumph brings about a new dawn of hope and liberation for all. Just before the screen fades to black, Neo says, "I know you're out there. I can feel you now. I know that you're afraid. You're afraid of us. You're afraid of change. I don't know the future. I didn't come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it's going to begin."
